This site is dedicated to the Abuyadaya of Uganda. The Abuyada is a group that was brought to Judaism by their leader, Kakangulu. In 1919, he left Christianity and felt Judaism was
the true religion.
They have been Jewish in practice and name since 1919. They have been persecuted because they have called themselves Jewish. Despite, Idi Amin’s prohibition on Judaism, they defied him with the threat of their lives.
In recent years, they have converted to Judaism, and their quest for full recognition has seen dramatic steps forward.
